whenever i take my foot off the pedal the momentum of the propeller turns the trolling motor itself. i have to constantly keep pressure on the pedal with my foot to keep, it going in any ertin direction. how do i solve this problem? any help would be appreiated. thanks jw.

There should be a screw located on the foot pedal that adjusts the tension on the cable that moves the motor. Tighten up that screw and it should help. On a MinnKota it is located at the bottom toward the front of the pedal base.

Its hidden under the main cabling at the front of the foot pedal.

Sounds like something is bent. Upper or lower shaft.

i couldnt find anything bent or a screw to tighten it up. im thinkin about riging up a sprin to stiffin it up. ive got it on my 14 foot jon boat and it almost sent me swimming.

I've been having the same problem with mine. I thought that maybe that was just the way they were. This is my 1st bass boat.
