Friend & I were fishing a Quarry one nite w/ bobbers & minnows. Lots of bats would come swirling around at dark, you'd cast and they'd veer towards the bait as it's in the air, but then swerve away. My friend casts & one didn't veer away, and got hooked.
He reeled him in & the thing was freaking out & had the hook solid in it & line all wrapped around him. We made a couple of attempts to get close & cut the line off, but each time he'd screech & when he did the other bats would swoop down pretty close right above our heads.
Thing looked pretty mean when you'd shine the light on it - fangs and beady red eyes. Didn't want to, but we ended up putting it out of it's misery w/ a large rock.
Wish we could have released him.

i once snagged a big water snake with a topwater, reeled her to retreive my lure as i got her close to the bank, two male snake swam over and started rolling around what looked like a mating ball or something, but ultimately there were three snakes all rolled up into one ball with my line and my pop-r..finally i scared off the two smaller males and pinned the female and unhooked my pop-r and everybody went home safe minus a few holes in the neck.

I was night fishing on Ray Bob and my line started swiming off, I set the hook and fought what i would have sworn was the lake record with my knees pressed against the side of the boat. What I thought was a fish pulled the boat about 20 yards and surfaced showing off its huge paddle tail. It was a huge beaver! I guess it was swimming by when my fluke hit the water.

Lol! Nice Zack, very nice. I've caught bass on corn, but nothing over a pound or so.

My buddy and I were fishing the other day. He was fishing and caught a stuffed animal. Funny but what made it even funnier is that it was a stuffed Carp like you would buy at BPS. I about died from laughter!

The strangest thing I've "caught" was a Full Bottle of Ketchup! Snagged it just under the lid on a retrieve, and dragged the whole thing in. Must have fallen out of someone's boat or something. It was so weird, we kept it to take home and show everyone wouldn't believe us.

Bullfrogs are always fun. But the strangest was a 4 inch minnow on flyrod out of a livestock pond.

Some poor little fishy is missing his ketchup for his french flies now. You should've tossed it back.

I forgot about snakes...caught a water moccasin in the mouth on a plastic worm one night around a lighted dock. He got all twisted up in my line and worked his way up to the rod tip and snapped it like it was a twig....sorry PETA the snake lost. Got my rod replace for free even though I don't think the guy at Wally World believed me.

A friend of mine was fishing just after dark, throwing buzzbaits toward the shore. He heard some activity down the bank and thought it was bass hitting on top. He casted toward the area and hooked into a Coyote. The fight was on. The coyote was splashing around in the water yelping away. He finally had to cut his line and the coyote took off into the woods.

One day, four separate weird catches.
Mid 1980's - Lake Somerville dragging a double crappie jig rig along the bottom. Felt weird and my fishing rod started to wobble with a heavy weight. I bring in a freshwater mussel that had closed on the bottom jig. Later that day I am fishing that same rig and hook a full beer by the ring tab. Final catch at Somerville was a pair of gals undershorts...big girl at that.
That evening fishing the TAMU golf course pond with a plastic worm I feel a tap-tap. Set the hook and a nice sized crayfish comes flying in at me with that worm firmly gripped by its pinchers.
Weird but memorable...
