...At night.
Gettting some hits on rattle traps later in the night..
I'm seeing people out their catching some smaller catfish off of hot dogs but they just wouldn't take mine. Tried frozen shrimp, ham, and turkey as well and nothing wanted it. Also, No boat so I'm stuck on the dock.
Anybody have any pointers or tips? Thanks!

I got a five pounder down there from my boat I didn't know it was a lake record at the time oh well LOL. I've had a hundred lake records for channels out of Arlington. The record fish is ridiculously small at 20 inches and 3.8 pounds. There are five to eight pounders all over that lake and some even bigger than that. But like me, I guess, most people would rather introduce them to hot grease rather than go to the trouble to get on the books for a rinky-dinky back yard lake.

Arlington can produce. I have caught decent (definately eater size) channel's there. The Arkansas ramp at night (Fall-winter)can be good for crappie (bowman springs ramp has given up a few as well). I have seen and caught many off that pier(Arkansas)at night. When it get's good you will see folks lined up on that sucker with chairs and lanterns drowning minnows. Also, if going catfishing you can do good on catching Shad at the Arkansas ramp, or perch (what my net seems to find there) at the Bowman Springs ramp.

arl[quote=NotaNibble]Arlington can produce. -true statement, however, it is not by any means a top tier fishery. it is a convenient place to go and catch a few fish ie..... joe pool.

How could you expect it to be a top tier fishery? It is less than 2000 acres and has been stocked w/ nothing but channels and even that was over a decade ago. Regardless of those facts it still produces better cats than Joe Pool which is 3 times the size. Better crappie too. Besides it's a miracle lake. It was built in the middle of a draught and expected to take 2 years to fill. The heavens open up and dumped 17 inchs of rain on Arlington and the lake filled in just 27 days. Also underneath it's waves was the sight of the Village Creek Battles between white Texas settlers lead by Gen. Edward Tarrant, and various Indian tribes who used the creek as a hide out when conducting raids on nearby settlements.

I consider Lake A to be a hidden treasure, full of nice eatin' sized fish just minutes from my front door and well worth the $25 a year. Now if you are bank fishing it, you'd have better luck and more fun at randoll mill park.
