Ok so is this a possibility on Whitney? I lifted a rock over the other day and there was a light grayish crab about the size of 2 quarters.
I didnt tell anyone in fear of someone thinking I was crazy.
John5 About three years ago they had a little write up in the Whitney paper about this. Also about three months before that my son and friends caught a few of them, put them in a jar and showed them to us. I believe the article stated that the reach the size of about a quarter.

I know a friend of mine that caught the crabs out by Thong Island last 4th of July. He went through 3 bottles of Blue Starr Ointment before he got rid of them. LOL! That was almost funny! Just waiting for someone to chime in with one. Chris I heard you were the crab expert???!!!

I had a small mouth at PK spit one up about 7 or 8 years ago. About the size of a 50 cent piece. I was told they are abundant in the salty waters of the Brazos and the Red river.

I have seen them in the Brazos below PK dam as well.
I also think Stoker had one in his livewell earlier this year that a bass coughed up from Hubbard Creek. Probably jumped off Stoker to take a bath!
Retirement best job ever.

These things are bad. When I was a kid at PK there were crayfish all over our property, which brought in all the fish that accompany them. I started noticing the crabs around 10 years ago. Didn't think anything of it. Now all the crayfish are gone and I haven't seen a small mouth in 5 years. Between that and the GA, fishing has been tough the last several years.

I too have seen several at PK, I took a few home to put in my aquarium. They didn't last long.
Bass fishing is like a 30,000 acre golf course with no flags and five holes you can't see- Tim
