TBB 09 was pretty flat and the Tuna stayed down deep.. 400ft at Boudroux

I got one blow up on a Ballistic flyer around sunrize 5ft from the boat and it pulled the hooks on the short line but she was a good one, looked to be in the 130# range. I remember getting bit off on 3 live flyers and a couple of chunks.. dang Makos!

you guys read this? it pertains to the BIG E getting ran off perdido - told them to stay 5 miles away... hopefully it gets worked out and the rigs understand they are demanding false rules and cant force a rec vessel 100' or shorter, away from the rig..

I don't think the BigE report was any better than ours. They covered way more area and rigs, and had twice as many fishermen. I felt a whole lot better about our trip when I read their report. Not in anyway a diss to BigE, I was just glad we weren't the only ones with a challanging trip.

I was plagued by bad luck on this trip, which significantly pared down my fish haul. I only kept one big AJ and my four snapper, which won the biggest snapper pot.

I don't know where the BkFT were.

And not one single YFT was caught on a topwater or by chunking.

Every one was caught by jigging at depths from 100' - 300'.

(The above was said to be a first by the captain, the crew and anyone else that has done these trips in real numbers)

Correction .....

We did stop on the way out and do some casting of topwaters into a melee of feeding fish.

Result:

1 Skipjack Tuna

1 Blackfin Tuna

1 Yellowfin Tuna (15 lbs.)

And almost a Whale Shark ..... clap

I love getting a good YFT while jigging, had an 80# on a River2Sea knife jig last year. Had to go deep and work it FAST to get bit. Tiring but rewarding. cool
