Mine broke due to a knick in the cable housing. I guess it let water in and over the yrs it corroded the cable inside. Which cables do I need to get? It's a dual cable system and the box under the steering wheel says Teleflex. I have NO CLUE as to which ones I need. confused

How do I find the cable length? Just take em out and measure? Was hoping to keep from doing so, so I could just attach the new ones to the old ones and pull em through to make installation easier.

they are "supposed" to have the length stamped on the end..may have to pull the cable out some to see it..

Found em! Its SSC 7273 13 5FT FEB 87. I know the FEB 87 means they're the original cables that came on the boat. eeks But what does the rest mean?

I laid the cable out as straight as I could get it and it seemed to measure right around 15ft.

Don't think I'm measuring this right. Do I just measure the black casing or the whole cable end to end?

measure the Black casing and add 18"..some OEMs had 1/2 ft length..(13-5FT) if thats what you have, to order a new cable you round up to the nearest FT..In this case 14 ft would be the length you order..

This would be a GREAT time to upgrade to Hydraulic steering!!!
It is more expensive but it is ABSOLUTLY worth the $$$$ If you decide to go this route be sure to get a Sea Star if you have 150 HP or more!!!

Here is a complete do-it yourself kit!

I followed the videos advice and measured just the jacket of the cable and added 18" and it would be 13 1/2 ft. so I would go up to the next ft at 14'.
