Just want to let everyone know its been a long time since I have been on this forum. it is called work, work an more work. So I am glad to be back. My question is what is the best bait to use on Palestine for those good ol catfish

I don't know about Palestine, but catfish are catfish, and chicken liver is about the best bait I have been able to find. I buy mine at HEB for $3 and it last the whole day.

Run shad on your jugs and then R&R fish with Sure Shot.

You didnt' say what kind of catfish you wanted to catch.

Channels....the best bait is Bills.
Dont' forget to chum the area. Most guys use soured grain and toss it into the water where they are fishing. I like to scoop it into panty hose and then tie a knot in the leg part. Cut if from the rest of the panty adn then hang it over the sside of the boat. I cut a few small slits in the sock as well...this attracks the cats equally as well and I dont' use up as much chum.

Blue Cats....it is Drum, then shad. If you want to catch monster cats, use the Drum. Cut it ito pieces...big pieces and put it on a 4/0 hook. If I am fishing tied up to a tree I like to chum the area with fresh cut shad. Not frozen shad...fresh shad. I took a half gallon bucket with a snap on lid and put a eyebolt threw both the top and the bottom parts. Then I attached a long cord to each end. Especially on a windy day, this works great. I fill my bucket with cut up chum and slowly lower it into the lake. Then I give a hard quick jerk on the rop that is attached to the lid...This pops off the lid and then I pull on the rope that is attached to the bottom of the bucket. This turns the bucket upside down in the lake and puts my chum right where I will be fishing for blue cats. Cats LOVE fresh shad and I can ssure you...if they are in the area....they will come running.
