I just got one of these and wondering what others thought of it. The tip seems pretty stiff to throw a frog. Has anyone else used one, it is a frog rod. What else have you used it for and seemed good for that technique? Ready to get it on the water to try it but it sure does seem stiff for a MH rod.

Don't have a lot of experience with G.Loomis, Falcon man myself, I have a Falcon Cara(CC-7-173 S Cara Amistad)that I have several uses for Frog(slop),flippin, jig fishing deep grass beds, works great. Love the split handle, and this thing is a tree not a broomstick but a tree. I would suggest just to try different applications but the main thing would be to get a reel that would work with the applications your gonna try. I ended up with a Revo Sx in 7.1 using braid.
Don't use it all the time but it sure works when I do

Is it hard to make long accurate casts with a rod that has a stiff tip like this? Frogs dont seem like they weight much and would be hard to cast.

I was thinking about using it for a swimbait rod also. Does anyone have a swimbait rod? If so, is the tip stiff?

Don't know what type of frogs you use but as for me, I use either Spros 65, Spros King Daddy or a River2Sea Bull Croaker,
these seem to be some of the heaviest out there, plus I insert round or oval glass rattles to give them sound and increase the weight, and I don't have a problem plus while frog fishing I use more of a looping cast than say a regular one, Why? I want the frog to make a good loud "Splat" sound when it hits the matt, then wait 15-20 secs. then start your slow retrieve

a good stiff rod is good for jerking a spoon.

I have a Loomis senko rod and it too has a stiff tip, and it won't throw a weightless senko accurately. So, I use it for swimbaits, jigs 3/8-oz to 3/4-oz, flippin, big spoons, and Carolina rigs. It is also a MH rod and frankly, a lot of Loomis rods do not have enough tip flex to do what the rod label says. I have a Falcon weightless worm rod that excels at what it is labeled for.

If you are not sure, don't use it. Take it back to the dealer and consider other options. P.S. I think Dean Rojas uses a '7 ft. MH fast rod. Hope that helps.

you want a stiff tip in a frog rod i throw a heavy action rod with a frog but it could be used for punchin some grass or a c- rig also a good rule of thumb i think any ways is softer tip for treble hooks and stiffer for single hooks

Thanks for all the replies. Still need to get around and take it to the water. I may just keep it and use it around the thick stuff. I can see a need for it then.
