Most of you may already know this simple formula for determining the correct weight of LMB and strippers. It is not as accurate as a IGFA certified scale but it will get you very close.

Measure the length from nose to the fork of the tail. That is your length.

Measure around the fish at the fattest or widest point. That is your girth.

Now, remember your 4th grade math.

Length X Length X Girth then divide by 1200. And you have your weight.
Remember your fishes weight will be in fractions. NOT a complicated issue.

EXAMPLE: 19"X19"X18" (length X length X girth)=6408 now divide
6408 by 1200 and you have a very close weight of your fish.
The example fish weighed: 5.34 lbs. .5=8 oz.

OK lets try this formula with a striper, strippers tend to complain a lot when I measure their girth!
