Ok yall im a bass fisherman by nature but they just dont eat as well as catfish. My freezer supply is 0 and paying for fish sucks. Any tips where to fish off the bank on Gibbons Creek for some catfish. I kinda thought about the boat dock but that just seems to easy. Also what baits would yall use out there I have been hearing alot about this "Danny Kings?

Hey Dan. This is something that i have done my last couple of times out. I cought my biggest blue so far on whole shad that i bought from Academy. Shrimp and liver do pretty well too. beef liver stays on the hook better. The best thing to do would be to take a cast net and try to catch some fresh bait from the lake itself. While your out there, take a look at the pics posted at the boat ramp area there. There have been some monster cats pulled outa there. I coiunted several from 30-45 lbs just in the last couple of months. A fight like that would have to be just as fun as a monster bass

I fish Gibbons almost every weekend, shad is the best bait or live perch, catch them by the boat dock with a small rod and worms or use a cast net.
I fish the boat ramp area in the evening, or I fish the spillway a lot as well. The unfinished pier is great for catfish, just bring extra tackle because you will get hung up quite a bit. The fishing can be real good at Gibbons when the water is right.
Personally the biggest fish I have seen there was a 52lb blue but we have caught several large flatheads around 40-45lbs.

i fish gibbons one every couple of weeks and always come out with catfish...bass is a different story. danny kings bait works but i haven't caught anything big with it. as mentioned before, shad is the best bait there.

I have probably run into you guys out there before, I do most of my fishing from the bank and do pretty well on cats.
There are a few goods spots out there for bank fisherman, but one of the best is right off the pier in the evenings or the unfinished pier early in the mornings.

I used to fish off the bank on the north side of the peninsula that's just to the west of the dam. I'd use Danny King's about 24 inches under a bobber and cast 2-3 feet from the bank. I would always get a mess of eaters.
