Anybody use waders as "protection" from turtles and such. I won't even mention snakes.

LOL! No! They won't mess with you. Though I did have a gar chase my lure up to the pontoon recently and I have to admit I got my feet out of the water pretty quick.

Bass_Tard, how long you been tubing? Pretty soon, I will be ready to begin my tubing experience. I have 2 of the things I will need to start. Too bad neither makes you float. I have the pump and fins. The latter I picked up from BPS last night. I am ordering the odc-420 from amazon as soon as I can. It's listed for around $200 (tube only). Is that a good price?

I have the fc4 I picked up at bps. I learned to tube years ago in the old round shaped tubes. Just started up again with the v tube 2 weeks ago. Trying to get used to going backwards and turning but it really moves through the water.I hear that's a good tube as well. I over did a bit today and got some leg cramps lol. Had to head for the bank and call it a day. I fished out of a 10ft bass buster after the tubes back in the day and decided not to mess with all the boat stuff again. The tube thing is much easier and quieter and I think you catch more fish.

That's what I like to hear! I was fairly certain a tube was the way to go (since a boat is out of the question). It's good to see stories like yours. I know now I made the right choice. Thanks.

Anybody use waders as "protection" from turtles and such. I won't even mention snakes. Never use waders even in winter but I live in south Texas and have a way to keep my feet out of water and essentially dry. Critters are afraid of anything unusual or larger and try to get away. Unless special cases where they have babies to protect or if cornered, sick or have purposely attacked humans many times and then waders wouldn't be a deterrent. The critters to worry about are those in stagnant water, especially saltwater which form a rich decaying microbial soup. That's not the kind of water I would use nowadays, but if I did, waders are called for. My young son got a bad case of pseudonomous infection just from wading ankle deep with aqua shoes in the port A shallow mud areas a few years back. That kind of water can be life threatening if it reaches your hindquarters area. But then it may be that the water is especially polluted around stagnant areas around port A..... Porta
