Right now, I am running a Trophy Plus 4 blade 24 pitch prop. At W.O.T. I am running 5700 rpms at 60.8 mph (gps). I also have two 3 blade SS props, one a 24P and the other a 26P. Any educated guess on what kind of performance differences I will get out of these props? And yes, I know it will never be as fast as a bass boat

The 3 blade should run better than the Blade trophy

Which one of the 3 blades do you think would be better? The 24p or 26p?

I doubt that you will have enough bow lift out of either 3 blade to have any improvement at all. I think you will lose performance with any kind of normal load.

There is no better prop 3 or 4 blade. There are some better 3 blades and some better 4 blades depending on what application is needed.
You might try calling or asking Steve at Steve's Custom Props his opinion as to which prop would be best for your application. From what little I know about your boat I would first ask if you had a jackplate on it. That will do wonders for the lifting ability. Fish and Ski's generally don't lift very well and if you can put a jackplate on to give more leverage you will have done more to improve your boats attitude in the water which should result in your current prop getting more rpm's and speed.
Thats not from any knowledge about the Astro's or anything, just general boat setup stuff. Steve or maybe Pat Goff would probably know more about your particular boat.

Thanks for the replies. I don't have a jackplate on it, as I've heard that they aren't good for skiing (don't know that for sure).
I know that the Astro is a heavier than normal f&s's. I'm not really looking for more RPM, as I think 5700 is about all this motor needs. I was just wondering if anyone had a guess as to wether or not simply changing to the 3 blade would increase the top end on the boat. I had the 4 blade on during the summer, because I also do a fair amount of skiing. I was thinking on going to one of my 3 blades for the winter time since I don't need so much grunt out of the hole.

All depends on the boat. I stayed with the 3 blades for years but when the new 4 blade trophys came out I changed and never looked back. Just handles better with very little difference in speed. If max speed is your thing stay with the 3 blades.
