I am planning a man trip with my 7 year old and am looking for suggestions for major bass fishing lakes in mid-late November. I'm a military guy and relatively unfamiliar with most of the bass fishing in Texas. Safe lakes are a major concern. Any advice is appreciated! Semper Paratus!

Don't know yout location, but for a first trip, I would pick Fork. Especially since you mentioned bass.

Recommend you take a Kiddo age 7 on a "Catchin'" Trip. Instead of Largemouth Bass fishing which is difficult for even the really experienced angler, take him White Bass, Perch, Catfish or any kind of fish that is very easy to catch. He will totally enjoy it. If he goes out fishing all day and doesn't catch many or any, he will not want to go with you again. If you're within driving distance of Richland Chambers (between Corsicana & Palestine) you might consider us as an option. Check out our "Package Special" of a fishing trip for two, overnite in a Cabin at the Marina and Lunch for $299. Thanks for the info guys. Will definetley take a look at the suggestions. Kiddo has been fishing since age 3 and has already won trout tournaments and fishing with lures for bass and flounder for the past couple of years. He is definetely the best kitchen pass I could of ever asked for. Not going to be able to leave for Christmas this year, so I decided to take him on a 4-5 day excursion where we could just fish all day long. I know Choke is a good fall winter fishery and the various power plant lakes pan out pretty well too. Just looking to hopefully find a hot lake so we can have some fun.

If you are set on freshwater, Choke is a good choice. Otherwise, head down to the coast and put him on some bull redfish.

You might want to try some of the Texas hill country streams. You can float, camp, and catch a ton of fish. Just thought that would make a fine trip for the two of you.

I'll second the river fishing. Beautiful water, scenery, and catchin fish every cast. I know kids would enjoy that, because it brings out the kid in me.

They're killing them on Bastrop right now. Nice little cabins to stay in on the South Shore. You could take him hiking in Bastrop State Park and/or Buescher State Park which are nearby. There is a nice little lake in Buescher for some bank fishing as well.

Thanks again for the info. We fish mostly in the Houston area but plan on venturing out for this trip. We have fished Fayette many times and have always had a blast. Just looking for that late November hot bite. Appreciate the info above.

i would contact cliff hill on choke and do a catfish trip.
fast action, and at 7 kids want size, they care nothing about the "prestige" of largemouth bass.
People become fisherman because of succesful and fun trips with family....people become bass fisherman on their own accord
