Hey Derek,
Were you between the bridge and the country club or between the bridge and Bramlet's house?

Brother Terry got into a mess of Shad like that one last year at white rock lake. I think he had around a hundred in the net at one throw. That's an awesome Shad. Don't forget to get the gizzard out and put it on a hook.

BigJohn Both of those are on the south side of the bridge. I was on the north side. Caught them on the north west side of the bridge.

Nice shad you could get 4 baits out of that one pretty easy!!! I put him and the other on salt and in the freezer. Is it ok to filet them after they are frozen and then thawed out? Yes you can fillet him when thawed out. Or you can cut in 4 pieces and use them whole. That's what I use for bait in the winter. If they are that big no need to salt before freezing. If I were you I would go stock up and freeze a few bags for the winter, About 5 per gallon bag makes for 1 good trip.
Having fun is hard work sometimes! Not the biggest but big enough!

I went out to Bardwell after work to stock up on some shad for Saturday's banking trip. Got skunked at my usual spot. So I moved to a little lake called Clark. Went to the boat ramp and got nothing as for shad. So I went to another spot where I catch perch pretty good castnetting. Someone is fishing that spot. So I said screw it and went to a little bridge on the north side of this lake (30 second drive) First cast right under the bridge and got nothing. Moved down a little and thru right into a mess of hydrilla hoping to catch some big perch. Pulled up and had 4 nice gizzard shad. I got pretty fired up. Moved down a bit more same deal. I was like wow this little 800+/- acre lake has some nice shad. Then it happened. I moved down a bit more. Thru out the net in a mess of weeds. My rope was twitching. I figured I'd caught a big bass. Pulled up the net and had a big ole shad. I yelled booyah [censored]. I was pretty fired up for catching a big shad like this. At least I can say I now have a PB for something. I will take a dozen please, forget that 2 dozen. Thanks
