What a awesome day. It started at 8 am saturday morning as the Scat Cat left the dock. Past the jetty the Gulf of Mexico was being kind to us with good seas. 3 hours later we pulled up to our first oil rig and the captain sounds out, OK fisherman drop your lines, and then it was fish on! My son and I caught alot of snaps at that first stop. We then moved on to the next oil rig where we each caught our first Hammerhead shark. In our 9 hour trip we also caught 2 Red fish and some Lane snapper. A lucky fisherman 3 rods down from me caught the only Cobia Ling that won the pot. The 3 hour trip back was a nice ride sitting on the top deck, enjoying some cold beer while sharing fishing stories with good people.

thanks. we had a blast on that trip. we made about 4 or 5 stops at oil platforms and they all produced alot of fish. my son hooked onto something big at our last stop. it spooled some line out, and he could not reel it in at all. after about 2 or 3 minutes of no give from it, it started going to the right towards the oil rig and got tangled with other lines. it got some slack and was gone. oh my son was sick, but did get over it. we are looking forward to the next trip.

Trout Scout, thanks. he is my outdoorsman. he has got me back into hunting and fishing after over 20 years off. he is allways ready to go. he keeps me going and i thank the good lord for him.

hamster1, we have been wondering what kind of fish it could have been. i bet your right. i have caught jack fish years ago and they are tuff fighters.
