I want to fish Indian Creek at Ray Roberts this weekend. I have never gone up this creek before. Would it be better to put in at Buck Creek or Jordan Park?

Probably Jordan. Either way you are going to have a long idle if you have never been up there.

Jordan. Once you find the lane between Wolfe Island and Scenic Point, just keep the timber to the west of you and it will lead you right up into Indian. You will go through the lane and make a gradual turn to the east then the timber will have you curving back to the north. Once you find timber in front of you as you enter the creek, slow down.

If you can follow someone in from Jordan, you can always remember the route.

When you make the run roller is talking about watch out for the tree that you can't see right before you turn due north at the mouth of Indian. Follow somebody or up your insurance before you run. Easy once you figure it out you can run all the way to the bridge.

So far I have not found a map that shows "Scenic Point". Is the lane roughly halfway between Wolfe Island and the tips of the points that are east of the island?

Indian Creek is not a place I would reccomend someone to try and navigate by themselves for the first time. The way I learned it was to put in a small boat at the bridge and go down to the big lake from there. I used to drive my duck hunting partner smooth crazy by going full speed up from the bridge to our duck blind at 3:00 am. LOL

Great fishing in Indian Creek or at least used to be.

But better than that was the duck hunting. If you knew EXACTLY where to set up, Indian Creek was as good a duck hunting as you can find in North Texas. Thirty yards would make all the difference between two gadwalls and twelve mallards.

We found the lane between Wolfe Island and Magic Point. That part was easy. We saw one boat pass us and make the "run". It seemed like he eventually made several turns before he was out of sight...so, I guess I checkened out and decided not to go. We fished on both sides of Magic Point a little and all the way up into the back of that cove. We caught two little ones..thats all. The weather was beautiful and we had a great time. I will venture further north next time.

Sorry, it is Magic Point. There is a tank dam in that cove.

If I head to RR anytime soon, I will PM you and see if you want to go. You can follow me up in to Indian.
