Political correctness on cleaning catfish. Gawd all mighty, look what has happened to us since Dr. Spock wrote his first book.

I hate it when they call me by name!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL I sedate them with one of my wife's pain killers first!!!!! When you eat them, it's better than turkey for putting you to sleep.
A good day fishing is not losing a jig, a bad day fishing is not losing a minnow!

28 ounce framing hammer right between the eyes will generally get them to relax pretty well. I guess a ball peen would work too if it was big enough.

If some of you guys went to a slaughter house you would never eat a hamburger again. Fish have a tiny brain and small central nervous system...they don't feel pain the way a human or even a dog or a cat would.

Most of the time when I get my catch home, they're still alive. I have to admit, that I don't like to see any living thing suffer, especially when I'm the one causing the suffering. Who cares, they're fish. If you are worried about their pain, don't stick a hook through their face. Man-up. (j/k) Gimme a break. Some people actually have a heart and don't like to see an animal (even a fish) suffer any more than necessary. You wouldn't butcher a deer while it was still alive.

Let's be honest: How necessary is it to stick a hook into the mouth of a fish? Can't you be a vegan? If we want to get down to brass tacks, it's all about pleasing us by hurting them. They wouldn't want any part of it regardless of your "ethics". Let's not PETA the place up. What is "necessary"? Aren't you out there catching fish because you like to, not because you have to in order to live? How about you simply give up fishing and hunting and that will ensure nothing feels pain. Granted, I don't set out to cause pain to animals, that's not my thing (these days at least... prison can change a man) however your sense of ethics is your business. Why ask anyone else about how they treat a catfish? Honestly, it's a stupid thread.

Do you think Jesus drove a nail through the heads of all those fish before he fed the masses? No...

No matter how you clean your catfish, it's better than digesting in the belly of a bigger catfish.

Ya know, it's interesting sometimes when someone asks a simple question, just to see what others think. Not because they are trying to push their way of doing things, way of thinking or criticize how others do things or what they think.
Some people get pretty emotional, and try to twist it around and make it into something it's not. They also, for whatever reason seem to feel the need to make disparaging remarks.
My question was straightforward and simple. Not being judgmental or trying to say what is "right" or "wrong" - to each his own.
But if you feel so strongly about something that you feel you have dis other people for having an opinion or for that matter, asking a question just to make your point, well IMHO that's pretty sad. Fortunately that's not typically what I experience here on TFF.
