Carry a 12 gauge. Or you could just sit back and watch them and call the game warden and see what he says.
Yes I did admit defeat. Good job back to back champion

Get the boat registration numbers, follow him back to where he originated and get his vehicle tag numbers or house address. Then call the game warden. Two wrongs don't make a right, so don't be tempted to lower yourself to his level.....until all else fails. Then you can super glue utility knife razor blades to the line the first 18 inches below the jug where he'll first grab.

First of all make sure you have jugs properly marked and dated. Then call the game warden with all the information such as boat TX numbers if any and a possible description of the individuals and better yet a description of the vehicle and license number. Then if you catch them again, politely ask if they realize that they have just been caught, and tell them that the Game Warden is on his way. These are thieves any way you cut it. They are outlaws so just use your judgement. Boobie traps are not the answer! Good fishin! Jimbo
Just one more cast!

Do what my grandpa use to do LOL. Shoot flairs at their boat then go wait at the ramp for them and open up a can of woop arse! Game warden will not come out for that trust me. If they were not marked correctly they could have been mistaken for their jugs.

Call the game warden.
First....I rtecommend knowing who the game warden(s) are on the lake you fish.
Honest anglers hav nothing to hide.
But whatever...NEVER NEVER have a one on one persaonly confrontation with a fishing thief.
Let the game wardens take care of that for you.

Bull rider, You sound like me. i got a temper , ecspecially with thieves and lake lice. Like mentioned before just keep dudley do rights number in your phone and give em a call. they usually are concerned and are here to protect our resources as well as thieves of those resources. took me awhile but I'm better now about these things. Not completely cured but getting there. Good day Cliff

Bull Rider I'm a jug fisherman and this really does not set well with me. A theif is as low as a man who would cheat on his wife. I would first get these guy's TX# off the boat and then I would begin to explain to these num nuts that they ment absolutely nothing to me and I would not lose a minuts sleep knowing they were now turtle food. Then call the warden and give them the TX# and explain what you caught them doing and the warden will take it from there. Or shoot them with a 12 gauge and feed the turtles.

I'm sure some of you remember years back when the teenager got shot and killed for running someone trot lines. I don't do the jug line thing i like to feel them on my pole but a thief is a thief and they need to pay. Beter yet you could always film them if you have a video cam with you at the time then you have them hook line and sinker.

Many many years ago when my oldest son , now 42, We were putting out a trot line on Lake O Pines... My son was about 12 and while baiting our line a boat suddenly appeared a little distance off and the operator began to accuse us of baiting his line... I tried to tell him that we were using our on line but he would not listen, I could hardly get in a word as he just kept talking and finally said, oh just go ahead and use it I am not going to use it for a few days... I again tried to assure him that we were using our own line, but he motored off...
As we continued to bait our line one of our hooks caught a trot line running 90 degrees to the one we were setting out... So I could see how he was mistaken... Needless to say we removed our line to another location... But to this day that man thinks someone was using his line... SOMETIMES THINGS ARE NOT WHAT THEY SEEM...

A few fish aren't worth shooting someone over and spending the rest of your life in prison. Let the game warden sort this stuff out.
