Was doing some more reading....Topic is "bleeding a Tuna"...

http://dns1.spc.int/coastfish/Fishin..._E/Sashimi.pdf

Will I be expected to do this when I catch a Tuna on the Scat Cat or is this performed by the crew?

Anyone have a guess where we might be headed?

You won't have to bleed your own fish unless you like it done a certain way. I always let the crew bleed the fish, but I always carry a knife just incase I think it's been done wrong. The better you bleed it, the better the quality of meat from the tuna. The difference between $5/pound and $15-$20/pound.

Thanks IgotSNAGGED.
I'm ready with all my gear but I didn't get any knives yes.
Is the information in the link the "proper" way to bleed a tuna?
Just trying to be prepared, not sure I know exactly the right way/ wrong way....
Thanks for your feedback!!

I am not sure it's the proper way but I stick em at the throat latch and it seems to work very good. while tuna is alive insert your knife about 3/4 of an inch and the heart clears them out. Simple and it works for me

My guess is that we will start off at Hoover-Diana. They have been doing some work at Perdido and that is a long run to be denied that right to fish.

That would be a long ride to be denied access.

i think that will be the issue in the future- denied access to get close enough to rigs to be a productive trip. I hope you guys have a blast. I have seen only one report so far (havent looked today) about yellers showing thier beautiful faces on a bloody deck smile and the best thing about that, is the ability to run to the shelf to drop at day. I look forward to reading yalls trip report. I am living through yall, this weekend. I have the offshore bug very bad right now!

From the looks of the weather report we will have lots of company wherever we go.

Last year on this trip we were faced with 0' seas and the fishing sucked. Come on 3' - 5' !!!

just looked on 2cool. Bommvang is gonna be packed. the pressure will kill the fishing. with flat seas, yall should be able to run faster and further on the same gas.

Low pressure system out west is creeping our way. Should stir things up a bit and keep it from being flat.

I don't remember that. Was it bad? I did TFF and TBB both last year, and get them mixed up.
