Fished Fork yesterday from before sunrise till about 1pm and only got one. Is it just my lack of knowing the lake or was it a slow day?

I was there on Saturday and baoted 40+ fish...I can't see it would have changed that much. I fished from 515 west to the 154 and caught fish everywhere I went. Main lake grass was the best.

We fish Saturday as well. Caught fish thoughout the day and fished from main lake back to about the first 1/3rd of the coves. Grass was they key as usual. Seems like they did not want it moving a lot, just slow presentations. Better fish seemed to be tighter to the cover and wood.

Used spinners, worms, craw jigs and a jerk bait a little, from 515 east to 515 west. Fished grass where I found it and plenty of trees/stumps. Don't know the lake though so I probably just wasn't in the right place at the right time. Maybe next time...

Sunday was post frontal, high pressure and the Moon was overhead. It was mostly slow but we managed to scrape up 20+ fish and Col Al caught his personal best at 7.5#. Tx rig Excite Craws (black neon) and Santone (Buttescotch) jigs tight to timber or grass edges was what worked for us. Our best 5 were around 22#.

We never got out of Mustang due to the high winds and I force fed them a jig all day trying to get that big bite. I had not been on Fork since Sept 2009 so really not a bad day for fishing blind. I'm sure down sizing with a drop shot would have gotten us better numbers.

Bazz 5#

Col Al 7.5#

Yellow Magic at Bass Pro $15.99
Rebel Pop-R Plus at Bass Pro $4.99
What makes the Yellow Magic work better than the Rebel Pop-R?

You left too early (which most fishermen are guilty of).
We got out there around 1PM and only had a couple of dinks in the first hour. Then, we got about 40 between 2PM and 4PM. They were around the grass and schooling on top.

There are a bunch of us on here that will argue with that statement. grin The Yellow Magic in the right hands will outfish the old Pop-R by 5 to one most days on highly pressured lakes.

Sat & Sun my fishing partner had 87 fish at Fork. 45 on sat and 42 on Sun. and like Richie said, don't leave too early in the day.

If you aren't catching fish right now at Fork you might want to look for a new hobby....

I'm just sayin!! woot

Fish them both long enough and you will give those pop-r's away.
