Still trying to figure these things out,and need a little help. The other day all my fish were hooked in the bottom lip,is this my hook set or is this the way they are feeding?Just seems as though the hook position is pretty much the same from day to day.Maybe I'm thinking to much, but would like to think the fish were trying to tell me something.Any thoughts???

With your C-Rigs try setting the hook with a fast sidways sweeping motion. Not the traditional overhead set so common with T-Rigged plastics. The problem with the C-Rig is the weight is on the bottom and the lure on the leader can be floating above the bottom. A sharp overhead set will often result in jerking the weight foward and off the bottom but not necessarly move the lure far enough for a good hookset. A sweeping hookset inline will move your lure/hook further resulting in high percentage hookups.

Great response and I totally agree. A couple of other things that might help are a longer rod if possible and/or braided line up to the swivel for more connection to the hookset.

usually i use power pro, first time using floro.not use to the stretch, hard for me to detect bites. It was almost like they were holding the worm, just very different from braid,I did catch more fish but lost a pigun at the boat due to holding the line, got to remember this isnt braid.Over all Im thinking i like the floro just gotta get use to it.

Partner, you're getting em in so there isn't a problem. They just got hooked in the bottom lip.I'll take that any day.

There really isn't anything to do that will assure where the fish gets hooked I have tried. It is all dependent on how the fish strikes the lure and they strike it in lots of different ways. I have seen fish hooked in every way imaginable and never exactly the same way twice.

I thought it was a good question, even if the fish are getting hooked sometimes there are things that can be learned that will help the big one stay buttoned up someday. I don't know what the answer is, but I'm betting there is a solution. Its the same situation with throwing a rattle trap, if the fish are just getting the back hooks, sometimes a change from braid or flouro to mono will allow the fish to eat more bait, sometimes just a slight color change help. As mentioned above, i would try the sideways sweep on the hookset so your pulling line thru the weight, when you set it from 10-2 oclock you slingslot the the weight up
