Mark Nalls and his son Devin of Kaufman caught a 64 lb flathead on June 18 on a rod and reel!!! They are awaiting confirmation of the record from TP&W. The all tackle record is 64-6 and the r&r record is 54 lbs. Must have been real fun to bring that baby in on a rod.
If it takes less than one truck to haul away all of your guns then you don't have enough guns!

Dang! I was catfishing yesterday with an ultralite and 4lb line. That'd a stunk to hook into that dude with that weak rig!!!

Theres fresh heads hanging in the trees on the North end going around 100 but those guys don't care about records or names in books. Plenty of very big fish come out of cc every year, they just don't make it into the books. Most of em would rather protect there sweet spots than advertise.

I don't have any details. It was in an article in the Kaufman Herald yesterday with a nice picture. I think if you have a kid with you and you catch a near record fish then by all means turn in for their sake. The certificates are really nice and it gives them bragging rights at school. I know a lot of old timers that scoff at records mainly because they don't trust "Big Brother". They fish when and how they want and they don't particularly care for rules. Like the old Cajun said about the proposal to extend the duck hunting season, "What are dey goin' ta name da new month, we already hunt 12 months a year now!"
