what do you guys use to keep the maggots out of your bait... made some and the flys were all over so i know whats next.....

If you put shad or other baitfish in the mix,you need to dry them out first.If their lil guts are not dried out the flies/maggots will ruin an otherwise good batch of punch.I know in theory,you would think,the more fish food
(maggots)in the mix the better,but, trust me on this one that's not the result you want to achieve.good luck,mb

If you keep it cold, the maggots won't develop. I generally raise several batches of maggots every summer for bream bait, and I've found that keeping them in the fridge makes them go dormant.

You need to let the baitfish you add dry anyway because if you don't it will make the bait runny when they break down.

im not using baitfish although i may add some...mainly i was using liver and i know i will need something .......
