Maybe so but I can tell you one thing that is a fact. There will always be someone that is just a little tougher than you, best to refrain from using violence. JMO...

I agree that it is wrong no question about it don't think that I am on the theifs side in anyway. I just don't see a violent or possible deadly situation being worth it over fishing. If you have to confront them just use a camera and cell phone and let the game warden handle it. More than likely you have a family at home waiting for your return, don't put yourself in a position to risk that.

I ran lines at Granger for years and had constant problems with a few boys that lived closer than I did. I know how you feel and it is not a good way to spend fishing no doubt.

Solution: Go down to True Value and get ya some 3" PVC and a hand full of fittings. Make ya a spud gun. Stop and get ya a sack of taters on the way out to the the lake. If ya use ether as propellent as I do, you can easily get 200 yards plus on a good shot. A hundred mile-an-hour tater coming over head is a great deterrant!
Hoah!

Well, I understand the whole idea of respecting personal property but if I find myself in the same situation I would do exactly the same again. I suppose some people have a completely different concept of what is really important in life. I can understand getting upset if someone steals fish but not to the point of getting violent. To each his own, I guess.

I encountered a jerk on Lake Conroe running my jugs. I had a couple young men with me that wanted to whip some butt. However, this jerk had his wife and a couple children with him so we just let him know, in a polite manner, that he was violating the law. Heck, we give fish away for the asking; but to steal someones fish off their line is, to me, the same as stealing anything. I guess the sane thing would be to get the persons registration number and report him.

i beg to differ ... if you understand the whole idea of respecting personal property, then what gives you the right to pick up somebody elses jugline? ... you are not makin' any sense

it's like you are saying "oh i know it ain't right to mess with other folks personal property, but i'm gonna do it any way" ... sheesh i'm glad you are in burleson & i'm in breckenridge

OK, I see your point. I repent! In the future I will do my best to refrain from touching a jugline that does not belong to me.

I've got one worse than that!!!!!Several years ago on Proctor,I had a trotline set out in the upper end of the Leon. While we we're running it we noticed a big perch hooked right above the dorsal fin on a hook about half way down.WE wrote it off as maybe, just maybe, it was foul hooked like that scared tehn the next ten hooks were the same.Well that told me what we needed to know.We set across there right at dark and got several pics of these clowns along with there TX #'s running my lines.Since I knew the GW at that time I called him and told him about it.He said let's give it two weeks of watching them.Well a weekend went by and we couldn't get to the lakeso we went on Tues. afternoon only to find this complete idiot had STOLEN.....YES STOLEN MY LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!He actually cut my properly tagged, marked jug off my line and tied his own to it,complete with name and phone #.I won't go into detail, but after I got through with him,he won't do it again, especially since the GW got him for theft a week later.

I would have followed them while the whole time being on the phone with the game warden. Every one is right, it is theft, and every game warden in the state would get off on throwing the book at them. I would have been laughing in their face the whole time while the game warden threw them in cuffs and hauled their boat and truck off.

if i was him, i probably would've just run over your buckets or cut the lines on them. these things are a annoying and should be just as illegal as yoyos. i can't count the number of times that i've hung up on a trot line. it frustrates me because that is a lazy way of fishing. set your lines and come back the next day only to leave it in the way of other fisherman the whole time? i think it's tacky and unfair to other fisherman.

Here's an analogy:

If you see another man's beautiful wife, you don't go and touch her butt, you admire from a distance....the same should go for Jug Lines!

Rip

I never set a hook half-a**, when I set the hook, I rip the lip.

RIP THOSE LIPS!!!

I don't think running over juglines would be very good on your prop/lower unit. That little move could cost you a few hundred/thousand.
