Perhaps going camping this weekend at Twak state park. Has anyone stayed there, or know anything about it? Also are the fish still schooling? My nephews 5th birthday is this weekend and he has yet to catch a fish on the boat. Thanks in advance!

No schooling fish the past three days. Looks like the North wind and high pressure kinda ruined the schooling. The front coming in might turn them back on though.
The park is great. Great people and squeaky clean facilities. The only complaint is there is not a playground. So if you have young kids, make sure you bring the bikes.

We stayed there for a week at 4th of july. Nice & clean place. There are a few spots where you can keep your boat in the water by your camp so get there early. Lakeguide is right about no playground, we had our granddaughter, but we had the bikes too. The park police keep a good watch on the place so that makes it nice but watch all the rules, if not they will remind you. We will be back next year.

A great place to camp. Stay there 2-3 times a year or more. The sites where you can pull a boat up to are hard to get.
Very clean the people are the best! Twak should get better as the weather cools. Enjoy your trip

I would suggest Doctors Creek state park Cooper lake. It does have a playground and the sand bass have been biting good with some hybrids mixed in.I will be on the lake fishing for catfish sat and sunday . If you do decide to try Cooper pm me for more details .

Dont plan to leave after a certain hours, they lock you in, or they use to.

Yes very simple ask for gate code while you ate camping. You can also get on a gate code list. If u want to use ramp B4 park hours, just call for code

Stayed there over labor day weekend and was very impressed with all of it.
Bathroom facilities are great and very nice people
( do not park on the grass) it's like they have a pressure sensor tied into the sodd!! The park police will be there in seconds!!!!

Superduck how do I get that gate code, the last trip there had to wait until daylight for a ranger to let us in.

You need to sign up for it at the office, they will give you a card to display on your dash. Then you can call during business hours and they will give you the next days code. I think the gate is unlocked at 7 am.

I have not been there in a couple of years. It was really nice and clean then. Sounds like its still nice.
Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

Don't you also have to have a state park pass to get the gate code? Thats what I was told, which is not a problem because we camp in alot of the state parks so we buy one every year.
