Im heading down there this friday for the weekend and was wondering what I should try for this time of year. I dont have a boat but ill wade if theres fish around. Im gonna try the jettys and the bob hall pier but I dont know where else to try for what. also where is a good place to catch small bait fish or some finger mullet.
Thanks

You should be able to pick up some bull reds for sure.
Now, Donald...please pick John Bolton for your running mate.

Yes, at the end of the south jettie in port A. Live finger mullet during outgoing tide was producing slot reds accompanied by bull reds.

I heard at Port A the report was big reds on the channel side about 1/2 way down the jetties. Also spanish mackeral on the surf side all the way down with bigger fish toward the end. Also I heard Padre Island National Seahore has reds in the surf for the north end and lots of jackfish in the surf from mile 41 to 60 avg 15-20 lbs.

I've ben getting good reports from wade anglers that they are catching a trout, reds - up to 39" - with a few small black tips mixed in.
It's happening right now in the coastal bend, cooler weather and water temps have the fish aggressive and on the move.
