My friends across the street. I started going fishing with them when I was about 9 or 10. I'm the only one in our family that fishes.

My grandad was an avid hunter and fisherman. He lived on Lake Lydia East of Quitman and started taking me fishing and hunting when I was 3 yrs old. Fished the old ponds before Lk Fork and my grandad said when they built lake fork they destroyed the best squirrel hunting in the area LOL.. Fair trade I say.. LOL

Have been hooked as long as I can remember and have pictures from when I was 3 of fish I had caught with him.

My dad gave me the love of the outdoors and hunting, and my mom loved to fish with a cane pole. I was hooked on Bass fishing when my wife and I were newly married and we used to spend weekends at her grandfather's farm...He had 6 ponds, of which Bass were in 5...

My father loved camping and took us every chance he had. He would spend hours setting up camp to make it comfortable for us. His father, my Papa, was a local tournament fisherman. I was so amazed at the trophies and mounts he had won. He started me fishing and left me at home enough to keep me hungry for the sport. While he would work on his boat in the driveway I played fishng in the back of the truck with the car anttena. I still want to be the way I remember him.

My Dad got both me and my brother into fishing. I've got picture where we can't be 4 or 5 fishing in Grandpa pond. The man that use to be my step dad, got me into hunting dove and deer.

I grew up on a lake. I would say my parents are responsible for picking the place where I lived. But that is what everybody did when I was a kid.

family couldn't afford a boat when i was young but my dad took us bank fishing pretty often. i was hooked from the first trip. From then on out a buddy of mine and I would ride our bikes about 3 miles down the road to a pond one of us hauling a car battery and the other a 12V trolling motor and we would hook it up on the back of a jon boat like it were the main engine. We would fish until the battery died then paddle around the pond until dark. There were not very many larger bass in the pond but we could usually catch about 20-30 each everyday with one or two being b/w 2-3 lbs. It is funny b/c now i re-tie after about 5 fish now matter how big or small they are, but back then, we would throw a spinner bait on a zebco reel and never re-tie until we got hung up and had to break off.

My father took me fishing plenty. Sometimes we fished from shore and sometimes we used a boat. My grandpa had ponds and canepoles and those were the days I'll tell ya for sure. It was lots of fun to fish then and now I fish every chance I get. In 2002 I finally bought a property with a small pond (man garden) and it has been a real joy . I'm 13 miles from a boat ramp and that's where my free time goes.

My dad and uncle were the best river fishermen I ever knew. They always thought it was funny that the girl in the bunch was the one that took up fishing with them. Geez the memories are precious and my love for fishing is as strong now as it ever was.
