Went and fished Elmore Park (where Godeke Library used to stand) this evening, and had terrible luck. Saw lots of fish activity near where we were, but couldn't get them to bite.

I used a 1/4 oz Kastmaster slab, small Wildeye Swim Shads, and when I got bored, a hula popper (I didn't figure it would catch much, but it was worth a shot.) The grass was a bit tall too, so the mosquitoes were out in force tonight.

I'm beginning to think it may not be worth trying to fish some of these local ponds, and may just be better to spend an hour driving to fish off the pier at Alan Henry.

Anyone else having any/no luck at ponds in Lubbock?

I have not fished it...but I've heard the pond over by the mall has the best fishing.

I haven't tried it over there, but it's worth a shot.

I'm gonna guess the ponds at I-27 and South Loop may be very good. I think they're public, but I wouldn't swear to it. Seems like half the time I drive by there, there's at least one group of people fishing. The north pond seems to get more fishermen.

I've looked at stocking reports for the playa lakes around LBK. Seems like the ones that say they have been stocked don't have bass and the ones that have no stocking records do have bass. Try the Canyon Lakes system. I've caught bass in a few of those. Also, the pond off of the loop in between Indiana and Quaker. Caught a few there.

I may well give the one between Quaker and Indiana a shot here before too long. I've heard some people really like the Canyon Lakes system, but i've never given them a try. I'm not over on that side of town much, so we usually stick to the ones in central/south Lubbock. Worth a shot, though.

At the loop and interstate north side pond, small crankbaits, under the billboard. Right at dark you'll usually get a few but always small. Silver spoons work ok for better size early in the morning, fishing the middle of the North and South pond. just let it hit bottom and bring it back.

i've had luck at the veterans memorial pond on spinners and the pond across from it near the spillway with booyah jigs and small spinners. Had no luck at Maxey park, casey park, leroy elmore park, hodges park, higginbotham park, or clifford andrews park. Still gotta try miller park. Canyon lakes system is okay but the tall vegetation makes it difficult to do any good bank fishing. I've had luck at the university and north loop pond on the loop side and near the damn on both sides in the vegetation with texas rigs, and buzz baits, small spinners, and suspended rattle traps. I wouldn't recommend buzz baits anymore since it got colder. I'm still on the hunt for what these playa lake bass really like.

small white curly tail Berkley grubs on a 1/32 oz jig head. try em at the pond on South Loop between I&Q. Also the I-27 north pond. Had pretty good luck. Catfishing is awesome late at night at the I&Q pond. Try liver on the bottom. Caught some 5-7 lb blues in there. All released. Most of the playa lakes are junk unless you want to catch carp. just use corn then. or bread.
