Anyone heard anything about how big of a fish is holding first right now or how they did today?

Yesterday at noon the man who runs the tournament told me the big fish was 18#, with several fish in the teens.

Some very unhappy winners. Guaranteed Payout as advertised turned out to be not true. Tournament director said he didn't have enough participants so only paid 1/2 to all winners.

hmmmmm, that is not good. Guarantee means guarantee. Don't guarantee a payout based on number of participants.........

Well. We fished it. So...I guess I will give up the details. The tournament director had based his payout on a certain number of folks showing up....which I think he had less a 1/4 of what he expected. Last I heard he had right at 49 total entries...so basically 24 teams...which after spending a lot of time at the weigh-in...that seems about right. Yeah...the guaranteed payout thing (that wasn't guarenteed) wasn't cool. But, I will say the gentleman that was putting on the tournament was a great guy, had his wife and kiddos w/ him and gave it his all. I didn't mind my earnings being cut in half since he took such a large hit himself. My biggest frustration was we caught a 18.44 right at 6:30a.m. sat morning and was big fish until the last 3 hours of the tournament the next day...then an 18.47 was weighed in followed by a 20.4. Dang! Overall, we had a great time and the weather was great until the big north winds hit... If he does it again next year, we will fish it.

If you did receive money-- was the check signed? We have someone who received an unsigned check and have called for days with no reply. And another person who has been leaving messages to ask why the payout was half not the guaranteed amount with no return call. KCKL is stating they have NOTHING to do with all thats going on.

The longer this goes the worst it sounds, I'm sure glad I ask a lot of questions before entering.

I sure hope he gets them to sign his check but sounds like they are avoiding him on purpose. I can see why KCKL is not associating themselves with the tournament. Wrong way to start out and sponsors next year will probably shy away because of the cloud of suspicion and hassle this has caused them. (Be sure to scroll down to the second image and see the reason he said he wasn't obligated to honor the "Guaranteed Payout")

Uploaded with ImageShack.usThe excuse he gave as to why he didn't have to honor the "Guaranteed Payout". He told us to read rules #14 & #15.
