Why is it that you all think this is or will be a bad thing for Fork?

When you have a draw-down on a lake it will do several things for the lake and for you as fishermen will be good for both.

1.) Less water = less places for them to hide.
2.) Less water = more and new growth around the shoreline once the lake comes back to full pool.

The worst thing that can happen is for the home owners around the lake, simply because it will be harder for them to get their boats out of their boat-slips or houses. I truly hate this for the homeowners, but having lived on a lake, you know from the beginning that every lake is made for recreation but first and foremost it is made so that we have the water we need from time to time.

I'm not trying to be hard to live with, but I am presenting the facts.

Jeff

Less water also equals more boats on the same spot and more hazards exposed. You are correct though, it will suck for the home owners. Like I said, I hope they don't draw the lake down too much.

I've got a trailer out there at an RV park with a ramp and dock I can't use the ramp anymore and the ground is exposed in front of my dock bang . Sabine River authority will not allow RV users to extend the docks any further out than I'm at now, so I hope the water levels don't stay down for too long. I have to pay to launch my boat now hammer

Choke Canyon produced very little over the years of drought. But when she finally filled up, look at the basschamps tournament, 52 limits over 20 pounds. Those fish where there the whole time. Just lock jawed due to mother nature. You had a hard time catching 5 keepers until mother nature unlocked the door. Draw downs are good for future bank growth. Falcon and Amistad were the same. She doesn't produce a sharelunker for years, then she almost full and the weight picks up. Largest 2005 sharelunker of the season came from Falcon. The fish know what they must do to survive. Facts are facts. Big OLE Sam Rayburn waw another example years back before the fish kill. Same old lake that kicks out 20lb sacks, until 4-5 yrs of drought, notice that the B.A.S.S was void on tournaments for a few years. In a fishermens head, smaller water means easier to locate. Harder to catch.

........to my knowledge, the pipeline has already been laid..........which is concerning, but Lake Tawakoni is extremely low and very dangerous if boaters and fishermen dont know it well.........tawakoni is my home lake and it is suffering greatly also...........truthfully, i wonder why the SRA, is not using the pipeline from Lake Fork to Tawakoni as a single water source so neither lake suffers as much as Tawakoni is right now?

it shouldnt be a problem to unload your boat therebecause i was fishing lake fork when the lake was still about 15'low after it openedand the ramps where fine. if it wasnt for cities or industries wanting the water they wouldnt build these lakes. i just wish they would build more of them out here in east texas

108 inch pipe. But most lakes in Texas pull water from them to water the masses. It'll be different but not necessarily worse....OK maybe a little but not too bad.

Fork is a Resorvior, they'll take what they need when they need it. But the positive on Fork is that: Fork makes the area and state alot of money, that will help her from being sucked down to far.

Lake Tawakoni is much larger than Fork, it appears on the maps, so to fill Tawakoni one foot they might have to drop Fork two feet. I saw one public boat ramp on Tawakoni down near the dam (no name) that was really far from the water and had a bunch of small boulders at the bottom that would prevent driving even an SUV down it to get to the huge "beach" that is there now. It's going to take a good bit of rain multiple times to fill that lake up. I wonder if the pipeline will suck any Fork bass over into Tawakoni. smile
