Question fellow fishermen, well actually a kind of rhetorical one.
I love to fish a split shot rig with a fluke or a senko and I have had one tied on my rod since April or May, during Bass Champs. Since then I have mostly pleasure fished and a few small tournaments. With this rig - same knot, same leader, same hook, same split shot pinched on, I caught an 8.13 and several 5 to 6 pounders and countless smaller fish.
One other tid bid of information is I am some what of a charma/luck type of person. I don't dive off the deepend with luck, but think sometimes its there. I have come to believe this is my lucky rig. In my heart and in my head I know i need to retie - the hook and knot is rusty, the leader if frayed.
So here is my question - I have a big tourney coming up this weekend do I retie and risk breaking my lucky streak (kind of feel like a pitcher with a certain dirty hat or glove) or do I risk losing a fish but know its been luck so far. During my last tourney this rig caught the big fish of the tourney and got us second place over all.
Thoughts?

I'm not a superstitious person, retie your split shot rig and go get 'em.

measure out the length of your leader, and note exactly where the split shot is, use the same hook, and everything else but def retie! I can be superstitious to in the end you will have the same exact rig just with new line.

One thing I learned during the PAA on Tawakoni. Tommy Biffle retied after EVERY fish, no matter the size. No matter if it needs it or not was what he told me. Good tournament advice I'm thinking.
