Will it cause much of a problem to tow w/ boat trailer w/tires that are of different diameters on single axle.???????

One tire salesman said a 205x70Rx14 would have the same diameter as a 215RX70 x14. But after I got home and compared the 2 tires it seemed that there was somewhere between 1/2 to 3/4 " difference in height. I only needed one tire.

It is pretty scary that a tire saleman would say that. The formula = 205mm / 25.4 = 8.07" x .70 (aspect ratio) x 2 + 14" for rim diameter = 25.3" diameter. Do this for the 215 and you get 25.85" diameter. Add in less tread on the used tire and would be a little more. Probably will not cause any noticeable problem on a trailer axle. I would not want to run a different diameter on a drive axle.

Tire salesman was probably thinking you meant rim diameter or something, I bet it was just a good old miscomunication.

Would'nt be a big problem, I would'nt like it.Never run different height tires on a drive axle you will wear out axle gears in a hurry. The tires will be turning different revolutions per mile. One tire being a lil bigger than the other might cause one tire tring to outrun the other causing tracking problems, especially at higher speeds.

You won't be able to tell a difference. The tires will wear out long before the axle.
