Wondering what your opinion is of the Fish ID feature of the HDS units in 2D sonar mode.
On previous models selecting Fish ID would eliminate most of the detail available on the 2D sonar screen so I never used it. With the HDS units, it appears that all of the detail remains visible. The intriguing part is that it appears to identify fish holding in cover such as trees, which is hard, if not impossible, to do with Fish ID off.
What are the opinions - Fish ID on or off?
Does the Fish ID feature accurately identify individual fish or are there a lot of false IDs?

Jason do you know of a good DVD that shows how to setup and read a conventional fishfinder? I have a HB 385ci and would like to learn more about it. It seems everything these days is focused on side imaging and not much available on conventional.

Doug, I'm just trying to figure out how to use it more effectively. How to set the speed and other settings to get the inverted V's for fish, etc. I've read various guides on it, but sometimes seeing things can be more helpful -- that is why I thought a DVD would be useful. I just want to maximize what I can learn from the FF. Thanks.
