Not my favorite bait to work with, but quite often works. First, I place the livers on two-three thick layer paper towels on a table. Usually take a pair of scissors and cut them in half.

Then I sprinkle garlic salt or powder all over them and turn them over to get the bottoms. Turn a fan on them for about 1-2 hours until they dry a little.

Then take a paper towel and wrap up 4 of them, one in each corner and put one in the middle. Put the towel back in the bucket or a gallon plastic bag. Continue until all are done. Then refridgerate or freeze until ready to go.

I use a treble hook, size 6 usually with a medium split shot about 6 inches above the hook. Throw gently.

Get an pair of panty hose and cut pieces of it into 2-3 in squares. Wrap the liver in it then hook it to your hook. This has worked for me since the 60's.

Oh one other thing if the liver or "ripe" (spoiled) it makes better bait.

I cure my little diffrent than texas alein does..

First off I buy my livers in a pack not the ones in the tubs, they are always real mushy for some reason.

I drain all the blood out.

Cut the livers into the size you want to use.

Lay them out on a cooking pan.

First dust them real good with garlic, then complety cover them with salt.

Sit the pan out in the sun for a couple hours tell they turn a grayish color.

Turn them and add more garlic then salt.

Let them sit tell completly gray.

Store them in the fridge in a bag or what ever and they will be so tuff hardly can slig them off the hook.

What kind of store do you go to where you can buy them in packs? I've heard of this before and would like to try it.

Someone has already hit the nail on the head. Pantyhose is the trick in keeping them on the hooks...2-3" squares as woundedbear states.
