Can anybody help me find the blues on Fork? I have been catching a bunch of channel cat but very few blues. I have been using nothing but shad. Besides where I'm fishing, do I need to change bait as well?

This lake is not a known blue catfish producer. The "Catfish Splash" tournament last summer had NOT ONE blue cat weighed in. I know some folks talk about catching em there but there were a lot of darn good fishermen in that tournament and not one was weighed in. (I think there was 100+ boats entered in the tournament).

I have caught channel cat out of that lake up to 21 Lbs and a few blues but not enough blues to drive all the way out there and fish for em.

It is killer for channels.

Thanks for the info. I was kinda hoping that I might learn there were very few blues in there. Maybe I'm not as bad as I was beginning to think! And you are correct, there is a ton of channels!

Don't feel bad, we fished it last year and won some good money with fish that only weight 5 - 7 lb. No blues caught. But lots of channels. Last year - the biggest fish in the tournament was less than 9lbs ! Not a bad pay for a 9lb cat - guy won a boat/motor combo - not real big - I think it was a metal boat w/ a 25 hsp motor - NEW plus the $500 for the hourly win. Great catfish tournament - everyone was cashing in - pays 5 places every hour - $500, 400, 300, 200, 100.........!

You should certify it, lake record is under 17lbs (somewhere close to that anyway) for channel cat.
