I have heard to many good things about Texoma. I am getting the itch to go out and try to catch a striper or two. I think I am going to go this Sunday after the front moves in wind permitting. Does any one have any advice on were to go and what to throw? Thank you very much, David

Slabs and sassy shad if your gonna chunk lead. Live shad is always good as well. There are tons of fish in the mid lake area. From north Island over to platter flats and south towards the Dam. Birds are working all over the lake and dont be shy about looking inside the big creeks. right now chasing birds is pretty easy. Been catching lots of big fish with very few dinks the last few weeks.

David, you might better have a sea worthy boat if you are going on Sunday. There is supposed to be a storm front come in Saturday night into Sunday, and the weather man is not making reference to the winds as, "breezy"......But, instead is saying, "Windy." Which is not typically a good thing on Texocean. I'm not saying this doesn't typically make the fishing good, it simply means, don't venture out in a little boat.

How about in the afternoons? Are the birds working in the afternoons until sunset?

Michael, I haven't been out this week, but Mark Macnamara said they were doing it right up until dark last Friday I think it was when he was out.

My most recent report is from Wednesday. They are doing it in the afternoon, but you never really know what a front will do to them. I second Mike's caution about the wind and waves. We've been in some four-footers out there in the past couple of weeks. Check the "Reports" on my webpage. They'll give you a pretty good idea of what's been happening. mark www.texomasportfishing

Thanks guys, I may sit this one out. I wanted to take my 8 year old out and watch her catch a couple of stripers. I'll pass if it is really windy. Thanks

What will southwest winds of 10 mph do to the lake? Will it be rough or relativly calm? As you can tell I don't get out to Texoma much.

I was out a couple of days ago in the afternoon and the lake was pretty flat with clear skies, which usually isn't the best fishing conditions. A lot of groups of birds sitting on the water, but a few groups were actively working from time to time. We didn't slaughter them but caught about 8 or 9 fish in the 18-22 inch range on slabs and sassy shad.
The few fish we kept and cleaned had full bellies of pretty small shad, say 2-3" long, so you might try downsizing your bait a little if you are not having luck on the standard 4" sassy or larger slabs.

I just got back from Texoma. Afternoon bite is the best with birds working the main lake from about 2:00 on. I was up a creek from 3:00 until about dark and a friend in another boat pulled some very large fish. We had a couple but he had the double digit fish -- 2 oz chartreuse/white PrunePicker Slabs and 4" chartreuse wildeyes or sassy shads.
As we were heading back into Little Mineral right at sunset we got on some big fish under the birds.
