Decided to go try the Sabine again this weekend and try the Sandies. Caught some good fish. The bite was much better Sat than Sun. I was alone Saturday but still managed to catch my limit of 11 1/2" and bigger fish. Had a partner in the boat Sunday, got the good spot to fish, and tore them up Sunday. Hope the pics work.
Watch the water level if you go out there. As Jane has said, the water level is dropping and the river is potentially dangerous. I idled the biggest part of the time and still hit stumps. My boat is a beater, but I still wouldn't plane it out and run. I saw plenty of people in expensive boats running fast, but I wouldn't. Well here goes the try for the pics.

Hey psycho0819. We were also at river ridge this past weekend. Sorry I didn't get to meet you. We were camping right on the river left of the ramp. Nice pics. We got off to a late start on Saturday but managed to find the spot around 10am. Finished our limit around 3pm with our biggest being 3lb 2oz. Great fun. Limited Sunday too although much sooner as we were in the spot before anyone else. May try it again this weekend if the water is high enough for my boat. I know what you mean about the stumps. We planed out a few times but I was nervous.

I saw someone tent camping on the sandbar. That must have been you. Nice catch. I caught a few but had to go before I caught a limit.

I was there this weekend with 2 other TFF's and met one of you that had a buddy from Shreveport I believe. Not sure who.
Fishing and weather were great since my last trip couple of weeks ago(26 degrees).
Everyone should stay and fish on RR's sand bar. laugh laugh

Hey Brush Popper. That was me you met at the cleaning table. Any word yet if the fish have got on the sand bars fully. We saw some people catching a few on the bars Saturday afternoon, but that creek mouth was to good to pass up for us. May try it again if the water stays up enough.

Wigman, we saw people catching fish on the sandbars south of River Ridge near the Center Hunting Club. Were the gloves that I gave you any help in cleaning your fish?

Yea Man! Thanks a bunch for the gloves. Really saves the skin when you're cleaning that many. Are you going back any time soon? Where exactly is the hunting club you mentioned? Is that where all the houses are?

The Center Hunting Club is several miles south of River Ridge. It is not too far past the island. There is a sign on the west side of the river on a fishing camp. I am going back the last weekend of March with Brushpopper. I hope the run will still be going.

Anyone know if the ramp south of Socagee Creek on the west side is a public ramp? On the map it looks like it's at the end of CR 438.

I'm sure I talked to a couple of y'all. I was the tall guy in a blue pro craft bass boat. By myself Sat. and had a buddy w/me Sun. It was glad to meet any of you that I talked to. And it was nice to meet you, Jane.

I don't think I'm going to make it this weekend. I need to work on an old pickup I just got, and maybe have a fish fry Sunday during the Nascar Race. Good Luck to anyone who ventures in to the stumpy waters this weekend.

And the guys in the CC Kenner need to reveal yourselves. Y'all were just having way too much fun. We got to fish the mouth of that creek Sunday and caught two limits in about three hours. The rest of the time we fished in the creek, and did OK there as well.

We fished w/Jane Fri mornibg and limited out (4) of us in 2 1/2 hours. All fish were over #" as I wouldn't let the kids keep any smaller. Our biggest was 2lb 15oz ans we caught (1) yellow hybrid. Sat/Sun we camped and fished the sand bar on the North end. Did really well there too, but dodn't keep any fish as I had run out of ice chest room!
RiverRidge is a great place to fish/camp and Jane is a top notch guide who really knows her stuff. We had a blast.....you just can't imagine the fun kids (and adults)have catchin them sandies!
Thanks to all we met!

Mene,
So you were catching them off Jane's sandbar without a boat? I KNEW I should have gone last weekend!

Thanks to you Menefreghista! We met you Friday afternoon when we arrived to set up our tent. Thanks for the info on where to fish at that creek. Glad everyone in your group had so much fun. I saw your photo on Jane's website. Very nice catch. Hey phsyco, you're right about the Kenner boat. We met them on Saturday when we were both looking for the fish and wound up fishing next to them near the mouth of the creek on Saturday. They said they would post some pictures of the creek with all the boats in it. Hope to see all of you again sometime. Maybe I'll remember some faces to go with these names.
