My dad is coming into town from Indiana for the weekend. I wanto to take him somewhere to catch some fish, but not sure where to go. I haven't had a chance to get out in the past few weeks. Didn't know if I should go to Dunlap, Choke, Amistad, Canyon etc... Looking for some advice on the best chance to catch some fish, with a chance to catch a biggun. Appreciate any advice guys.

I actually had thought about running down to Calaveras. But have not tried red fishing yet down there. Really wouldn't know where to start.

Tough choices. All this rain is really messing with the fishing (at least for me). I love Dunlap, but if you know Choke well enough would head there. If you have all day, theres just more water to fish there. Dunlap is just hit or miss for me. Although not sure how the weather is effecting Choke right now. Ive never fished Amistad. Want to, but just havent yet. So cant help you there. Now that I look at it, my whole post isnt really helpful is it?

TexAg06, Thanks for making my decision for me. Ha. I think we may hang around town and hit Dunlap in the morning. That way we can do other stuff in the afternoon.

Hey sorry bout that. I saw your missed call, didn't know who that was. We will be fishing for bass. When you say upriver, do you mean closer to the dam or at the ramp? I think we will hit the lake early Saturday morning, may even try to go tomorrow night depending on whether we get the opportunity to go dove hunting Friday, waiting to hear back from a guy.

TexAg06, Thanks for making my decision for me. Ha. I think we may hang around town and hit Dunlap in the morning. That way we can do other stuff in the afternoon. I saw a few negitive post about dunlap above, but I think that everything has been a little screwy with all this rain run off. I think they are just trying to guard their little honey hole (l0l) cause my buddy tells me really good thing about dunlap over the past several weeks. I have seen some very impressive picsm lots of 3s, 4s, and 5s coming out of there. Plus, you also have a chance at a smallie or striper that swim up out of Canyon! Give it a try, just throw the bass back so that the place doesnt get fished out! Its a small lake!
