We want to catsh some sharks but im open for anything. Anything will be really helpfull. i know about the jetties but we dont really want to be shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of people but we will if we have to. I have alot of the gear needed. I have been down there about 8 times in the last 8 months but i have stunk it up every time. i dont know alot about surf fishing and im trying to learn as much as possible. i dont want to sound like a mooch but i could really use some help. is there a guide down there that i could get to show you were to fish without a boat?

Take him to PINS and hire Billy Sandifer. No one does the beach better than Billy.

Wade out into the surf at 5 in the morning. Go to the second bar and cast behind yo to the gut, and in front of you in the gut.. Use a topwater lure such as the heddon zara spook. My favorite color is bone ad red head. You should catch some trout like this.

ok figured out pins. im tryin not to drive that far cause we dont have alot time off when we do get time, plus its taking everything i have saved up to go. i dont think my budget will alow me to get that far (extra gas plus i dont know that area at all so i would prob. need the guide and i just dont have the funds for all that. I would prob. have enough to get a guide in galveston or port a. And i think that would be better money spent because i can make it there more often than i can padre. Living in ft. worth and all. If anyone knows the ins and outs of surf fishing in galveston or port a. area and you live in the fort worth area i would trade that info for a catfish trip in my boat all expenses pain and all the ins and outs that i know about catfishing. thanks guy

If you have the opportunity to go to port A area, I can definatley give you some advice.
Wade out into the surf at 5 AM. Wade out to the second bar and cast into the 1st gut behind you and the 2nd gut in front of you. Try a topwater walk the dog such as the heddon zara spook. My favorite color is bone and red head. Another good bait to try is strike king soft plastics. Plain white and white with a chartruese tail are my favorite.
For Redfish:
Use the saim lures plus try a gold spoon wading around the edges of the Redfish bay and the San antonio bay.
If all else fails throw cut bait in to the surf, grab a beer and relax. Get ready to hold on for your life though, becuase there have been 5' plus sharks landed on the beach in the past week.
Hope this helps, Good Luck
Ben

you should be able to get it all from cabelas, or you could wait andd shop at the local store to make sure you get the right stuff. AS far as wade fishing in the surf, anywhere where there is public beach with no people in the water is good. My favorite place is just south of bob hall pier. From fort worth get on I-35 S all the way to san antonio. once you hit san antone take 37 towards the coast. Take a rght on 358 and follow that untill you cross the bridge onto mustang island(isand that port aransas is on. Turn right on S Padre Island Dr. On your left you will see bob hall pier. This is a great place for night fishing for trout and sharks. Use soft plastics under the lights for trout and cut bait for shark. There is public beach access right at the pier, but I would walk down about 1000 yards past the pier. Thats the perfect spot for morning trout fishing. My plan would be to go there in the surf in the early morning, and then fish the pier from 4 PM untill whenever you want to quit. In the evening use shiny spoons(such as the gotcha plugs) retrieved extremely fast for spanish macks and pompano. Once it gets dark start throwing those soft plastics and topwaters for trout undereath the lights. Also the shark fishing is very good from about 10 PM untill morning. As far as a tackle shop, I like Roys bait and tackel on 385 and lexington. These are the lures you will need: Trout/Redfish: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores...5003000_175-3-0http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores...5003000_175-3-0Spanish Macks: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores...5003000_175-3-0Sharks: Any type of live/cut bait. My favorites are ladyfish and stingrays Hope this helps, feel free to PM me if you have any more questions. Ben

I think that is a regulation past a certain marker. BUT the water there is way better than Galveston.

Another thing I forgot to mention, if the waves are rough in the morning fish on the opposite side of the pier in the water facing the mainland. Use the same lures, and you should be able to land some trout and reds.

Try the 61st street pier if there is some overcast. They have beer and restrooms... can't beat that. The t-head is a decent size. AND, you can see your car from the pier since you park along the seawall.
