I'll look around. I'm sure if a biologist got a hold of it they could tell, but I'm not sure if it ever got to one.

I googled it and the the oldest recorded carp was 47 yrs and interestingly the oldest recorded lake sturgeon was over 152 years old

I will find out the age its a known fish and has been caught before just not at this weight

I remember reading about the Oklahoma state record when it was caught a couple of years ago. It was 182 lbs I think and estimated by state biologists to be around 125 years old.

I don't know for sure but I've heard that you can take a scale off of a fish and count the rings much like the rings on a tree. you can tell the age in years by the rings. You may have to use a magnifying glass but I do know that fish scales have rings.

I understand that you can count the rings on a fish scale and estimate the age in years, much like a tree. I've never tried it, but I've read that that is the way the biologists determine the age of a scaled fish.
