Has anyone fished at White Rock lake lately. If so then, where have you had luck and what did you use?

Went out a few weeks ago and had success on spinnerbaits. The construction on NW Hwy has turned the water, and I am sure the recent rains did something as well.
Are you going by boat or bank?

I was out there last weekend and caught a few on spinnerbaits/crankbaits on the windy banks. The best water in my opinion is on the north end at the mouth of the creek and the small pocket just to the west of that. If you can find cattails and potato weed in water 1.5'-3' they will be in there. This rain we had is going to make it a muddy mess for a few days though.

three today but the water color is definitely still off from the heavy rains. This summer the water was as healthy as i've seen it in 10 years but yea, construction will take a toll on the creek.

Ive been out fishing this lake from a raft several times just before the rains. I have primarily worked the South end working from the Mount Vernon replica down to the cattail filled southwest corner and all along the south bank to the boat houses. I've worked spinners, buzz-baits, med-diving crank baits, Renosky Frog Swimbait, Berkley Swim Bait, Hula-Popper, Pop-R, Jitterbug in a variety of retrieves and actions and caught.....NOTHING!!!

This is an obvious statement so I apologize but I can't emphasize enough that this is a shad and crawfish lake so throw a lot of creature/craw plastics to the almost exclusion of worms and if you don't mind losing them to rocks and fallen limbs - 100 size cranks. And fish are shallow just about year round as there just isn't any other cover.
And if it rains, wait no less than 2-3 days if you're bass fishing. For whatever reason, White Rock bass turn off when the water gets real stained.
Whether I'm bank fishing, kayaking or in the big boat on the trolling motor, I 'golf course' fish it meaning I pick 9 or so holes/spots I'm confident in and fish those. The lake has some real consistent and inconsistent shoreline but it's a very healthy fishery with some nice fish.

going back the seventies WRL has always had a good moving bait (buzzbait, spinnerbait, crankbait) bite. for what ever reason this year I have been catching most fish with a big lizard, or jig. One day in early summer I had good day with a chatterbait. This year I have only fished from west side boat ramp, trolling south to the old boat house area and back. most trips will produce about 10 fish.

Thanks for the info! I will add a few more 100 size cranks and set out this week with those and my baby brush hogs, large and small lizards and Berkley Swims and see what turns up!!

never been there, but if the water is still muddy try a black and blue spinner bait with a single colorado blade. Hildebrandt makes a good one. That might get their attention.

Interesting thread here. I was shut out in the months of July and August. Went maybe every other weekend. June my crankbaits were really working well and before then, spinners. So I moved back to the worm out of my raft since the water has been so warm and just started landing them again. Big hogs are in there.

west banks seem to be working for me . blue , green,or light yellow with rust glitter, (my friend uses june bug and does good ) colored stick worms with a 3/8 ounce weight on it . i have a freind that doesnt believe in putting weights ( i catch 3-1 compared to him ) on them but the work well for me . i have been casting out and pointing the rod parallel to the water and using a loose line jigging it and turning it reel half a turn at a time till i get to the bank . good luck out there .w/r/j
