Hooked up the Eagle 480 on the dash as always and zippo, nada, nothing - speed 0.0 Water temp 32deg and no bottom ( deep lake ) Took the 320 from up front and tried it -- same thing. It works fine in the TM
Does this mean new transducer? My guess is yes!
confused confused

it sounds like there could be a bad connection in the cable, but more than likely a failing transducer. what kind of trans do you have and how is it mounted?

Gottabe

Sounds like transducer. Normally your temp probe and gps receiver will function normally and your bottom readings will become erratic or fail to register with a bad transducer.

How much life-span did you get from your transducer??

I'm about to put my third transducer on in 10 months. I'm a little frustrated and it's starting to become a bit of an "issue" for me. You can always take your unit in for testing at All Star marine. They can determine for sure if it is your transducer.

I figured that was the problem.. My trolling motor one works fine with either unit, the dash connection won't work with either. It's been mounted for about a year ( got it with the 480 when I bought it)
Thanks for the reply...

I have went through my share of Lowrance transducers. One advantage of having two similar sonars on the boat is isolating the problems.
Talking to Lowrance about 2 years ago, I just happened to ask about warranties on transducers as I had always just bit the bullet and ordered a replacement. They are warantied and sent me another. Another time I bitched that a new one wasn't working right, no problem, sent me a replacement.
Keep this in mind if you have any problems with your replacvement.

Thanks Paokie---Good info. I have had particular trouble with the dual frequency Lowrance transducers. On doing further research, I found I'm not alone. Still they are a good company; responsive to problems, and I seem to get good tech support when I call them in Tulsa.

I emailed them to see what their thoughts are. I also emailed Boater's world to see price and availability - I really wanted to get this fixed this weekend so I can fish... It's funny how it worked fine last time out ( Nov ) and now nothing.. Oh well that's part of it right? who_knows

Also check the pins on the connector. I bent one of mine and it didn't work until I straightened it back out!

I feel more like I do now than I did when I first got here!
