 How big can a male striper get?

Question to all knowledgeable striper fishermen (and women) out there: How big can a male striper get?  Last weekend on Tawakoni I caught and landed 2 stripers both were 24 inches long. Both had deep bellies that I assumed to be females about to spawn. But when I cleaned them I was surprised to discover they were both males  . Both fish were over 8 pounds! Is this unusual size for male stripers? Would it also be unusual that I caught both on back-to-back casts? (no I did not turn the first fish loose...)

The largest striper I have caught over there was 15 lbs. & I think it was a male. I would think an 8 lb. male was slightly above average.
Personal best :
Freshwater Red - 26.11lb.
Striper - 15lb.
Black- 7lb.

Well, the State record is 53 lbs and 48" in length caught in the Brazos River March 1999.
Not sure of its sex....

I think the state record in Alabama (where I used to fish alot) is 55 pounds.

I caught a 21 pound male Striper on a redfin in neely"s slew at Possom Kindom on good friday 199?. I now it was a male because he did his spawning in the ice chest if you now what I mean! I caught it fishin with my good friend James Rawls.(alias U-TURN,J.R., and lakanooky)Largest male striper I have ever wittnesed.Had him put on the wall next to the female 24.5 also caught at PK.

I was looking up striper records for several states , the biggest freshwater striper i could find was a 63 pounder caught in the tenn water system . Usually males are the smallest ,however i have seen a 27 pounder caught in the area below toledo bend dam by the people from the fish nursery .
