 89,,200 merc.spitting sound?

my ol merc has developed a spitting sound at idle,sometimes dies after the sound.Still runs fine at wot,gets on plain fine.Think I might need to up the idle a bit?Could this be a broken seal on the motor?Any ideas on this matter.Thanks

Most likely one air/fuel mixture screw is leaning out.

Most likely one air/fuel mixture screw is leaning out. +1 Sounds like a lean sneeze to me!

Yes it could be the air adjustment but have seen them do this with a cracked bleed hose, causing the lean idle condition. Also could be the ignition advance module.

one more for ya.know i am losing mph because of replaced prop,but if it is a "lean sneeze" could i also be loosing on take off,wot?
