Looks like I got pheasant on my mind. The work leash gave me a tug early this morning. Turned on the radio and Big Billy Kinder was talking about pheasants.

Way cool! Thanks. That method looks very easy. Jay has quite a mustache.

Now I'm wondering whether that viddy was helpful. Watched it a dozen or so times and have bruises on my forehead. Perhaps the problem is translating the viewer's view into the tier's view. Still, it worked nicely the few times it worked. I'll give it another go in the morning. Thanks again for the link.

Just pulled the skin out of the BassPro variety pack. It is indeed a ringneck. Guess I got lucky. It has plenty of nice feathers - it now lives in it's own bag. I need to revise and extend my remarks. Looks like the variety pack contained a mini-pheasant skin. Got one from H&H today. It is huge - fills out a 12x15 bag. Lots of pretty feathers to lash onto hooks.

that would look mighty fine on your desk Mick. And it might make that cat think twice about raiding the tying room...

Those tail clusters look sweet.
I doubt the cats would appreciate a cougar skull - the bugger might try to eat their food.
We had a mule skull when I was a kid. Looked cool around Christmas, with lights for eyes and a Santa hat.

Way cool. What can you tie with them feets? I've had the song "When I Paint My Masterpiece" in my head. If i were the artist type, I'd have to throw out the paints. Hard to beat this masterpiece:
