Went to the lake with my 3 year old little girl. We met my father-in-law at the Sanger ramp. This was her first fishing trip. I don't think she knew what I did when I would say I was going fishing. She just knew that she wanted to go and get a fish!! Went out around 2:00 and stayed till about 5:00. She loved the boat ride, but had a MAJOR problem with her grandpa bringing a sand bass into the boat. I've never heard a scream like that! After a couple of minutes, she settled down, but she would not look at her grandpa for a while. Lucky for us,(tongue in cheek) we only caught 2 sandies. All in all, she had a great time. By the time we got home, she had forgiven her grandpa for catching that fish and asked when she was going again.

It's great to see that you took her out on the lake! I'm sure after a few more trips she will get "hooked" on fishing with you! It's neat to spend that kind of time with your kids.

We took my 6 year old daughter in the summer. She couldn't care less. Now I'm waiting for my 1 yr old son to get old enough to go!! I get a kick out of him playing with a sassy shad in the tub.

I've been brainwashing my 4 and 2 year old daughters since they were a few months old by taking them to BPS every weekend and letting them play on the boats and look at the fish tank. It makes me proud when the 4 yr old says "dad, look there's a gar and a catfish" They love to go now, and the 4 year old caught her first mess of fish last friday with me on Somerville. She had a blast.

I have encouraged my daughters 12 and 3 to enjoy fishing. The 12yr old loves to do everything even cleaning sandies (stuff that her mom thinks is gross), but the 3yr old freaks out everytime I want her to touch a fish. Last week at the Coppell Family fish she got all upset cause the trout we kept were bleeding from the gills. Yet she had no trouble eating them (lucky I guess). Don't give up on them, its not about what they like to do just make sure you spend time with them outdoors.
