The rain and cooler temps finaly showed up after a very hot summer. Cooper did not get as much rain as the metroplex. The water level came up only a few inches as of sat. afternoon. The water color is great. The south west wind hurt the fishing more this week than anything for me. The sandbass and hybirds did move shallow. I have found them very shallow on the main lake points and on top of the humps. Did I say shallow. The best water depth I found is less than 10 feet. The sassy shad with a 1/2 oz head from moestackleshop.com was the best bait for us this week. I would pull up to the humps that I knew had the shallow water on top and start fishing instead of trying to locate the schools with my graph. They are so shallow you will spook them off the hump if you iddle over them. Also look for the birds. I am still seeing some schooling action.
Good luck

Thanks for your post. I went to Cooper yesterday (Monday) and caught 26 sandies and 4 hybrids. Two of the hybrids were 20" and most of the sandies averaged 12". I went to the very shallow humps on the lake (just like you said) and thats where I caught them.

Glad you had a good afternoon on cooper. We found some nice sand bass this afternoon before the storms run us off the lake today. They had just started schooling when we had to leave. Just our luck.

Yes I think the morning will be good. Start off shallow on the main lake points with sassy shads then look at the top of the humps. Watch for the birds
