I am just wondering...
Is it legal to fish Turtle Creek in downtown Dallas? It's close to where my wife works, and I just thought I might go out and see what's in there...

I'm pretty sure it is. Never seen any no fishing signs. Saw a guy fly casting there once. Always wanted to check it out myself too.

I believe that our own illustrious Grashpr9 angles in that creek.

Yep, that is my home water.
The only restriction I know of is in Highland Park. There are signs which say that a permit is required for fishing. I don't visit that section often. If they ever ask, I'll show the "permit" I purchased from TPW.
Also, the stretch from Blackburn to Fitzhugh/Wycliff runs thru private property and has no trespassing signs.

Public waters are fair game to fish in Texas, no matter the location, unless posted to the contrary. Turtle Creek is no exception. The signs in Highland Park, ie Lakeside Park, that state permit required actually refer to "Texas Fishing License". I used to catch a fair number of catfish and bass in this stretch of water, but a number of years ago it was drained for downstream work and the fish population has withered. PS. Take plenty of flys: big Live Oaks lining the banks will surely snag your offering.
