......for others to poach under-sized fish, and fill buckets with shrimp from a shrimp nursery area.
Clear Lake Park on Nasa Road 1 in Seabrook. (Where the boat ramps are.)
I've been there four times in the last two months and have seen numerous people catching and keeping under-sized reds, black drum, and trout each time I go there.
Lots of people cast-net shrimp for hours at a time, leaving the small bait fish that they don't want on the parking lot or on the pier.
Three previous times I have been fishing close to another person and have heard them call the TP&W Hotline.
No one has ever shown up. (Well, at least not in the five hours after I heard the call being made.)
Now I'm one of those people who obeys the regulations, but if you are one of those people who don't, and think that those of us who do are idiots, then this is the place for you! Not once has TP&W responded to the calls I've heard made, I have never seen a cop from Seabrook near the place, and have never seen a Game-Warden there.
So come on down poachers! Obviously the authorities can't/won't/or don't want to do anything.

On a personal note, I would like to again thank the idiot, (I mean the 'special' person) who today decided that he is better than everyone else and instead of waiting his turn at the boat ramp for PB's, launched at the sail-boat ramp, ran above wake speed through the fishermens lines around the pier, and cut my line. I hope the line does your propeller seals some good.

every time i have called they have come out takes them several hours but they do show up. domt forget there are just so many of them to patrol a big sates and they are spread thin. if all else fails just let the offenders know that what they are doing is illegal and it cfould cost them so big money esoecially if someone calls the game warden. they might get the point especially if someone is using their cells phones. can be done in a way to not make the person mad

You did what was right.

Was fishing the Red Dot pier in Corpus with my b-i-l one summer night. He's retired Navy and don't take no sh** of nobody. But he's a really nice guy. It was about 2 am and the folks next to us were putting small reds and specs into a cooler. He tried nicely to explain how they could get in trouble for that and ought to toss the little ones back.

After three times of trying to do so nicely and getting the "No speak English" bit from the Asian folks, he tried one more time to explain the situation. Upon where the Asian fella said, "Hey, F-you buddy, mind your own GD business." Well, my b-i-l was pi$$ed and said, "Lets go."

Right there on the side of the shop was an "Operation Game Thief" poster. He called, and we waited in the parking lot. Twenty minutes later a warden arrived. We told him what had transpired. I was anxious to leave but my b-i-l wanted to stay and watch, so we did.

The warden went out on the pier and proceeded to write a ticket for EACH and EVERY undersized fish as he tossed each dead fish back into the bay. He ran out of tickets and went back to his squad car for another ticket book and kept going.

When the warden finished up, the fishermen packed up and walked off the pier. My b-i-l was waiting for them in the parking lot and he hollered out the window of the truck as we left, "F-WHO????"

So keep trying, and that rare instance when the system actually works for you, it really feels good.

The game wardens will show up 1 out of every 5 or 6 times you call. And usually when they do show up, they'll confiscate all of your gear and write you a ticket for all the fish you kept that were undersized and/or illegal. I remember seeing an old lady keep 5 flounder in November last year, that were all undersized. She got a big fat ticket and they took all of her fishing gear.

Been there done that @ Nasa Rd. 1 and it is annoying. The few times I've been there I've seen the warden about 3 times on different days there. I've called the hotline on a couple of people there and only once have they came out there to catch people I've reported. Sure sucks though when they don't come out and the idiots leave proudly with there "catch".

No money, just a bit of satisfaction that the system actually worked....for a change.
