Six Boats on the Flats on a Saturday AM!!! No where but Richland Chambers! Slight South Breeze at 7AM that turned into a 25MPH NW Wind at 9:30 AM, but quickly subsided. Non-Stop Slab action all AM, and then Non-Stop Topwater & Slab action from 10:30 until 12:30 when we left them Schooling. Big Sandies, one 20" Hybrid and another one of those Hybrids that "Got Away". As easy limits as I've seen in a couple of weeks!!!

RC is going to be really wild this Fall when the Hybrids go into that Oct/Nov Feeding Frenzy!

Give me a call and Let's Go Fishin'!

I'm heading there next weekend, and staying at the Fiserman's Cove, Hope the action stays the same! The little ones need to have their line stretched.

Royce is absolutely right. The topwater bite was super from 10:30 to about 1:00. You couldn,t put a lure in the water without a fish whacking it. Lot of Hybids mixed in. Talk about fun!!!! Plenty of room. Royce can put you on the fish.

Nate,

Get out early on Saturday and be prepared for plenty of Company. In that same area where we had 6 Boats yesterday, there will be 60 on Labor Day Weekend. I usaully fish an AM trip on a Holiday Weekend and try and get away from the Crowds on a few "Honey Holes", and then leave the lake to the Crowds. Seems that you can usually get on fish early in the Holiday Weekend, but by the PM the Pleasure Boaters and the increased Fishermen have churned up the Lake and it gets a bit tough.

If anyone's looking for a trip next Saturday AM, I've got a Boat open. I've also got a Cabin open at Fisherman's Point Marina for Friday night. The "Package" of a Fishing Trip for Two, Cabin & Lunch at the Marina goes for $249, and I can easily turn this into a Trip for three or four.

I was one of those boats Saturday morning. It was my first time on RC. I picked up several whites and one hybrid that went 4 to 5 pounds. I headed out as the winds started. Wish I could have stayed longer.

LG,

You made the right decision to get off the Lake when the Winds came up. I get off when they hit the 18-20 MPH range. if the Wind is from the South, you can usually hug the Shoreline from Windsock Point to Ferguson Point and pick up a few fish, but if it's from the North, just get off the Lake. RC can be as dangerous as any Lake in Texas, and many fishermen don't give it the respect it deserves. I've seen too many folks sink boats and/or damage them as they're trying to get docked and loaded. If in doubt as to where to fish on a Windy day, pick a smaller Lake than RC.

As you fish RC more and more, you'll really learn the Lake and the patterns from Season to Season. However, the 309 Flats is a good place to look for fish from Late Spring through Late Fall.

Good Fishin'

Royce,

I would have went in a cove and waited the storm out, but I have a newborn and a 2yr old, so I told my wife I would back early.

I live in McKinney and usally fish Texoma and Ray Roberts, but my inlaws live in Corsicana and I am now storing my boat down at thier place.

I fished the same area Sunday morning with very little success. Fish where hitting the surface every once in awhile, but not real active.
I seen about 10 boats come in look/fish for a short while and then they where off.

Regards,
LG

Royce....

You are right about how rough RC gets. I just bought a 22' bay stealth with 102" beam. We were there with you on Saturday and it was one rough ride back to Oak Cove in that North Wind from the 309 flats.

What do you think the boat traffic will be like this Friday. I plan to leave Saturday to the holiday folks?

Also, Saturday I was graphing alot of broken up dark patchs just off the south drop off on the 309 flats. Did not look to me like bait fish nor were there any arcs. Could this be crappie.

THANKS ...mike <><

Mike,

A Friday before a Holiday Weekend is always a little busier, but still not enough to mess up the fishing. I'm fishing very little this week as I'm going out of town to see my Folks tomorrrow, and won't return until Thursday night. My Son has a couple of trips this week, and I'll see how the bite is and post a Report Thursday night. I'm guessing it is really good with the stable weather, Gates closed on the Spillway, and little traffic.

The "stuff" on your Graph is probably baitfish. My Graph looked like Spaghetti with all the baitfish and fish in the 25'-45' water off the Flats on Saturday. My Son had the same experience there the evening before with tons of Baitfish.

Anyone looking for a trip this week, give us a call at 903-389-4117. I'm open the last of the week, and Adam has a couple of days open also.
